Advancing the distinctive philosophy and practice of osteopathic medicine

National Osteopathic Medicine Week

You DO you! Join us in celebrating the distinctiveness of the osteopathic medical profession.

The AOA celebrated National Osteopathic Medicine (NOM) Week April 15-21, 2018 with a full slate of activities focused on bringing the profession together to raise awareness of osteopathic medicine and DOs in communities across the nation.

NOM Week might be over, but DOs and students can continue to promote the profession year-round with Doctors That DO resources and the American Osteopathic Association's You DO You Facebook overlay.

Spread the word

Show your pride by adding our "You DO You" overlay to your Facebook profile pic. There are fun options for physicians and medical students. Add an overlay.

Other ways to promote DOs

  • Hand out the What is a DO? brochure to patients, available in the AOA Online Store.

  • Set up a table at a local hospital or other community facility and distribute information about DOs.

  • Use our elevator pitch when speaking with potential patients about osteopathic medicine:

There are two types of fully licensed physicians in the U.S. – MDs and DOs. Our training and education are very similar and equally rigorous, but DOs come at the practice of medicine from a different philosophy. We tend to partner with our patients to help them get healthy and stay well.
